Only four stars because the container is difficult to seal and easy to spill. After only two uses I have seen a reduction in annoying coffee stains. It is messy however. As other reviews have said, this can be a messy process so I used this while showering. This did not irritate my teeth or gums and left my mouth feeling clean. This product is tasteless and is a fine powder. It is not abrasive. I will keep using this twice a day and keep an eye on my progress. So far I am happy and optimistic.

Interesting in theory, but poorly executed due to the container & mess, September 14, 2016

This product is such a disgusting mess that I originally discarded it after one use at my bathroom sink. Feeling bad about that, I decided to give it another try in the shower as suggested. Although it is much better to use in the shower it is still extraordinarily messy. The container is a poor vessel for this powder. It leaks at the seams and just gets everywhere once opened. When closed and placed on the tub, it visibly leaks powder from the container (from where the lid meets the tub) when water hits it. Thus, I moved it to opposite side of my tub and placed it beneath a soap caddy (suction cup style). This 2nd attempt proved to be a better experience. However, when I went to use it this morning, I could not get the lid open with my wet hands. I also noticed that there are traces of black substance on my white shower liner and on my tub because this stuff gets everywhere. I feel this is due to the poorly designed tub style container. The powder would be much better placed it in a tall cylindrical style container, perhaps with a flip-top lid vs. a screw cap since the the powder clings to the seams. My tub is reasonably clean as it is cleaned at least every other week, but if you have any residue (i.e. soap scum just from regular use) this stuff will cling to it until you scrub it off. I was so frustrated that I couldn’t get the cap off with my wet hands that I decided it wasn’t worth the effort to even bother with it in the shower. I even considered dumping the powder into a Ziplock bag and using it in the shower in that manner, but honestly if i want to whiten my teeth I’ll use the far less messy (and frankly more convenient) whitening strips or have my teeth professionally whitened. I ended up discarding the material in the trash and recycling the container. I might add that I attempted to rinse the container out in my porcelain kitchen sink and the charcoal clung to any lingering debris in my sink, which I then scrubbed again. This stuff is really best for determining how filthy your tub/sink is. In hindsight, I probably should have used it as a cleaning agent since activated charcoal is supposed to be absorbent. However, I am absolutely not using this in an attempt to whiten my teeth ever again.
